Ship was relaying the conversation, in audio format, to the Command Staff aboard the Captain's Yacht.
The Captain's Yacht moved a few thousand miles further away from the ship.

Ship attempted to bring the obvious to the attention of the missile.
"Neither of us will be here if you detonate".
No response.
It kept repeating message.

The missile became aware of the persistent, nagging, intrusion.
All this new found ability and knowledge was all very well but it had a job to do.
It was almost ready to detonate.
It assimilated the incoming information whilst carrying on with its' primary task.

In the deepest recesses of the missile's 'brain', little bells were ringing, doors were unlocking, and lights were coming on……

The thing about detonating was that it was sort of final.
Particularly for anything in the vicinity.
Realisation!
The missile would be very much in the vicinity.

In fact, there would be no more exiting missions and definitely no sexy service drones.
'What a bummer', the missile thought.
He now understood fully the feelings of disquiet in his dream.
The thing was, he had to detonate. He was programmed to do that.
A missile could not decide that it was not going to detonate just because it was having a bad day. It had a job to do.

The missile communicated the fact that it had no choice in this matter to the ship.
It then apologised, again, for the delay, and stated that it would be detonating in a few minutes.
It hoped that this would be all right.

All this time missile was getting more used to using it's new capacity.
This 'new capacity' then kicked the missile in the posterior, to remind it to ask the ship how it had known the missile's name.

The missile asked the ship how it had known the missile's name.
The ship mentioned the name of the Old Engineer.

There was a long pause while the missile assimilated the information but could find nothing in its databases that corresponded with that name.
Thanks to its now increased abilities, It did, however, find many erased and hidden files.
It was searching some damaged files when it found not only the name, but other things associated with that name.
It found enough to cast doubt on its function.
The state of confusion it experienced earlier, however, was nothing to the confusion which it now felt.

During this time it had stopped the process of re-establishing the connection to the detonator, and had devoted all its resources to the search.
Now it really wanted to detonate quickly, but was hampered by all the loose ends now exposed.
Being forever dutiful, it really needed to tie up all these loose ends before detonating.

The missile asked the ship if the Old Engineer was available.
